★ Location: Island country in the East Mediterranean, located south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, northwest of Israel, north of Egypt, and southeast of Greece.

★ Time zone: Cyprus belongs to the Eastern European Summer time zone (GMT + 3).
★ Climate: Cyprus has a subtropical climate – Mediterranean and semi-arid type with very mild winters (on the coast) and warm to hot summers. Generally, summers last about eight months, beginning in April with average temperatures of 21–23 °C (70–73 °F) during the day and 11–13 °C (52–55 °F) at night, and ending in November with average temperatures of 22–23 °C (72–73 °F) during the day and 12–14 °C (54–57 °F) at night, although in the remaining four months temperatures sometimes exceed 20 °C (68 °F).
★ Currency: The Euro is the official currency of the Republic of Cyprus. 1 Euro = 3.63 AED.

★ International Organizations: Cyprus is a member of the United Nations, along with most of its agencies as well as the Commonwealth of Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund and Council of Europe. In addition, the country has signed the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency Agreement (MIGA). Cyprus has been a member of the European Union since 2004 and in the second half of the 2012 it held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union

Admission Criteria - 6 years MD

1. High School Leaving Certificate

★ GCE A’ Levels with grades ABB, to include Biology and one of either Chemistry, Physics or Maths, and one more subject
★ International Baccalaureate with 32 overall and a combined score of 16 at Higher Level, to include Biology and at least one of either Chemistry Physics or Maths.
★ The Medical School may also consider applicants from other education systems. For any other qualifications please contact us so we can assess your eligibility.

2. English Language Requirements

★ 6.5 overall in the IELTS (with 6.5 in writing and a minimum of 6.0 in all other elements)
★ Or: 213 overall in the computer-based TOEFL (550 paper based, 79 internet based)
★ Or: grade 5 in the GCSE (or B with the old grading system)
★ Or: a score of 5 in English in the International Baccalaureate Standard Level (SL)
★ Or: a score of 70% in English in the European Baccalaureate.
★ Students from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are exempt from this requirement as long as they have graduated from an English speaking high school.

3. An interview – either in person or online

★ The objective of the interview is to establish whether you have the appropriate skills and attributes to complete the course successfully and to practice medicine professionally.

1. Academic Requirements

★ Bachelor’s Degree from any field: minimum 2.2 or equivalent GPA
For those with Biomedical degrees, there is an opportunity to apply for entry to year 2 of the programme subject to meeting any country-specific requirements. See recognition of prior learning section below.

★ MCAT: 498 minimum score
Or
★ GAMSAT: 55 minimum score (must have a minimum of 50 in all sections)
Applicants from Israel can provide evidence of having the Tel Aviv University / Yeda exam with minimum overall score of 300 in place of the MCAT or GAMSAT requirement.

2. English Language Requirements

★ Applicants who have graduated from an English-speaking university in one of the above six countries, but who are not from that country, may be able to submit the English language proficiency certificate used when enrolling in that university – our Admissions team can provide further advice on this.

3. An online Interview

★ The objective of the interview is to establish whether applicants have the appropriate skills and attributes to complete the programme successfully and to practise medicine professionally.
